Job Title: Structural Design Engineer

Job Summary

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for preparing structural designs, calculations, engineering drawings and fabrication documentation for oil and gas, marine and industrial engineering projects. The role involves designing steel structures, equipment supports, platforms, skids, frames and related mechanical structures using AutoCAD and relevant engineering software.

The engineer will coordinate with project engineers, mechanical engineers, fabricators, suppliers and clients to ensure that designs meet project specifications, safety requirements and applicable engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare structural layouts, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings and detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
2. Design steel structures such as platforms, access structures, equipment supports, skids, frames, brackets and foundations.
3. Perform structural calculations for static loads, equipment loads, wind loads, vibration and other applicable design conditions.
4. Develop structural concepts based on client requirements, site conditions and project specifications.
5. Prepare material specifications, bill of materials and structural component schedules.
6. Produce clear fabrication drawings containing dimensions, tolerances, weld details, connection details and material information.
7. Review client drawings, technical specifications and design inputs before commencing design work.
8. Carry out design verification and ensure drawings are accurate, practical and suitable for fabrication.
9. Coordinate with mechanical, piping, electrical and project teams to avoid design clashes.
10. Support fabrication activities by responding to technical queries and resolving drawing-related issues.
11. Review shop drawings, supplier drawings and fabrication submissions.
12. Conduct site measurements, dimensional verification and reverse engineering when required.
13. Assist with structural inspections, quality checks and verification of fabricated components.
14. Maintain proper drawing numbering, document control and revision records.
15. Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and project coordination activities.
16. Ensure that designs comply with applicable project, client, marine and oil and gas engineering requirements.
